Got a case of the Mondays? Well do we have the video for you. If you’ve ever wanted to give the good ol’ fuck you to the man then be sure to watch this video. For what’s essentially a testosterone fueled song for adolescents, it’s actually quite good. The funky beat is a nice touch, and the rhymes flow well. The song is the first single from Brooklyn, NY rapper KB Jones. KB is releasing his debut album (Finer Things) on May 22nd, 2012.
We got a chance to ask KB about the track, upcoming album, and more.
Scrappy: What was your inspiration for the song? Anything deep or just needed to get some things off your chest?
KB: “Fuck The Bullshit” was really just a song that came out of a few friends putting on some beats and freestlying. Me and my friends were just hanging out listening to beats and writing music and the chorus came out of nowhere. As for the lyrics, it’s just ranting about things that get on my nerves. Nothing too deep, just a fun way to get those things off my chest.
Scrappy: Any plans on making a stop in Dallas on your tour?
KB: We are actually in Houston right now, but our next stop is New Orleans. We aren’t going to make it over to Dallas this time, but for our next trip down here, we would love to check out the town!
Scrappy: Can you tell us about the rest of your debut? What kind of sound can we expect to hear?
KB: “Finer Things” is really a step away from my previous work on “Honey On The Side” http://kbjones.bandcamp.com/ (Download for free if you want!). We used a lot more live instrumentation on this debut album. We never really lost the hip-hop feel but there is a definite rock/blues/pop presence on “Finer Things”. The album goes in different directions, kind of a roller coaster ride, which is what we were going for. At the end of the day we are just making the music that we would want to hear; music that feels real to us. Hope you enjoy it when it drops!
And finally, for your viewing pleasure:
